LFIS’ first of three white papers on ESG outlines the challenges investors face when implementing ESG criteria, as they endeavour to improve the ESG score of investments whilst maximizing the risk-adjusted returns. The diverse approaches to integrating ESG criteria, the unsuitability of some asset classes and instruments to ESG investing, and the lack of consistent and comprehensive ESG data are issues which hinder successful ESG integration and threaten the credibility of sustainable investing.
